Я недавно спросила у немца, что его страна думает о поражении, как их учат не обижаться на обвинения в фашизме и все такое. его ответYes, we lost the war and as most germans think it is for the better we lost, because fascism would would had become a major thread to all people then.
We have intensive courses about the third Reich and the second world war in school, we are educated to see our guilt in the past, the guilt for killing millions of jews, homosexuals, slavics and others. But you know germans are not a bad nation, fascism exists still. In society and education it is seen as the darkest chapter in our history, as a crime and a shame.
I can feel more sorry for it than a personal shame, because i did not murder anybody i did not start a war and killed people. But as i said i feel sorry and i, as most germans would do anything to prevent it.
I guess there is nearly no nation in the world that deals so much with its dark parts of history as the germans, this period is always present. You know my city i live was bombed to more then 91 % in the end of the war, so i guess its for the better that my country turned into a peaceful one.
Coming to an end, i can tell you that i feel sorry for all the victims and especially for the russians who suffered a lot from the german army. But i hope that you can understand that germany and its people changed, we are not the same as 70 years ago
Я не к тому, что немцам стоило бы гордиться нацистским прошлым (тут я ярый противник), но меня просто ужасает, до какой степени эта мантра действенна.
